Kakarakaya Pulusu

My ammamma's Special


kakarakayalu 1/2 kg
Buttermilk 2 cups
Salt for taste
Turmeric powder 1pinch
Tamarind pulp 1 cup
Grated jaggery 2 or 3 spoons
red chilly powder 1 spoon
curry leaves 2 or 3
oil 4 spoons
dry red chillies 2
raw chana dal 1 spoon
Urad dal 1 spoon
Aavalu 1/2 spoon
Asfoetida little


cut kakarakayalu (Bitter gourd) like 1 inch peices, and boil them with buttermilk (add turmeric powder and salt in buttermilk), so that bitter will gone. drain the pieces from buttermilk.

Take a pan heat the oil then fry red chillies, chana dal, urad dal, aavalu, asfoetida, curry leaves let them fry, good aroma will come then add bitter gourd cubes, stir well now add tamarind pulp and chilly powder in that. and cook them in low flame for 10 min. add jaggery cook for another 3 min. ver very tasty kakarakaya pulusu ready
